PARAPLEGIC SIT SKI RAIL

US Paralympic Nordic Team athletes use an adapter (rail) to attach their nordic skis to a special saddle that they sit or kneel on. The team was using heavy and compliant aluminum adapters and needed a stronger, lighter and stiffer alternative that would increase performance. I designed and built a carbon fiber equivalent to the aluminum counterpart. This involved designing tooling, creating ply schedules and post-machining the finished part. I used vacuum bagging techniques to manufactured several custom parts.
