LATERAL ACCESS RETRACTOR

For certain patient pathology and anatomy, orthopedic spine surgeons will access the spine through the patient's side, above the hip. I managed a project to develop a surgical retractor system that provided all the necessary instrumentation to access the lumbar spine via a lateral approach for spinal fusion procedures. This system allows a surgeon to safely retract tissue to create the surgical channel needed to access the intended vertebral disc space. This product combines easier-to-use surgical instrumentation with industry leading radiolucency to provide a safer and simpler experience for both surgeon and patient.
